Our boys have been busy this year serving others, and giving by leading. The eighth grade has visited Don Guanella to work (and play!) with youths that have some special challenges. The sixth grade made miniature manger scenes after school, along with decorated candy canes and wreaths. These were given to the residents of Brandywine Hall in West Chester. All of our homerooms “adopted” a youngster that Santa needed some help with. We shopped till we dropped to provide bikes, wagons, snow pants, sweaters, video games, or whatever our “adopted” child had requested. We then wrapped the gifts for Santa and his helpers to deliver to our special friends on Christmas Eve. Thank you to our generous families, students and teachers for a real team effort! And finally we closed the year wishing each Sister residing at Camilla Hall a Happy Christmas by sending a personal Christmas card. Over 200 cards were sent, and many boys have developed a new “pen pal”….perhaps we should say “pen-Sister”! We look forward to sending Easter greetings at the first sign of spring.

Our Middle School students are full of energy and compassion! This is exactly how our boys respond to their call for service--with energy and compassion. Our Christian service program is continually evolving and changing, to help serve the needs of our changing world. Our Christian service opportunities are tailored as closely as possible to the developmental stages and talents of our boys. Presently our students share their gifts with the students of Don Guanella School and the residents of Devon Manor. In addition, our boys are called in many ways to support the ongoing projects of supplying our neighboring communities with food or clothing.
In the Middle School, we do not require a specific number of Christian Service hours. We introduce our students to opportunities for Christian Service and allow them to respond as their hearts lead them.
An integral and necessary part of our Middle School service program is our parents. They are their son’s first and most important teachers. Our parents teach and model Christian Service for their sons as they join in visiting Don Guanella and Devon Manor with our boys. We strive to make our Middle School Christian Service program a true “family” affair.
